Branford Marsalis
@Wortham Center

Da Camera welcomes back NEA Jazz Master, renowned Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and Tony Award nominee Branford Marsalis, one of the most revered instrumentalists of our time. This weekend, Saturday January 25, 2020 at Wortham Center.

From his initial recognition as a young jazz lion, he has expanded his vision as an instrumentalist, composer, bandleader and educator, crossing stylistic boundaries while maintaining an unwavering creative integrity. In the process, he has become an avatar of contemporary artistic excellence.The Branford Marsalis Quartet, first formed in 1986, remains Branford’s primary means of expression. In its virtually uninterrupted three-plus decades of existence, the Quartet has established a rare breadth of stylistic range and a continuity of personnel. The Secret Between the Shadow and the Soul, recorded in Melbourne, Australia in the midst of an international tour in the Spring of 2018, contains the mix of challenging original and classic compositions, and the range of moods from the tender to the explosive, that has defined the group. With its focus on melodic strength and extrasensory interaction, the album confirms that the Branford Marsalis Quartet remains a paragon of uncompromising jazz excellence.

Next Weekend in Houston

LoCash
@Stampede Houston

Friday 1/31/2020 9:00 PM

When this duo started out in the country music business they wanted to be known as LoCash Cowboys. The duo singers/songwroters Chris Lucass and Preston Brust would eventually drop the cowboys from their name. The two make their way to the Bayou City this weekend, January 31, 2020 at Stampede Houston.

It was their hits from Tim McGraw "Truck Yeah" and Keith Urban's "You Gonna Fly" that put the two on the map as pop country music writers. It was their hit singles "I Love This Life" and "I Know Somebody" that moved their celebrity to the country music charts. The single "Feels Like a Party" from last year got their fans lined-up to their concert venues.
