This Memorial Day weekend at Miller Oudoor Theatre its The Motown & More Show’s Funky Good Time, produced by Basement foundation For The Arts. The arts group also brought us Dancin’ in the Streets a Motown & More Revue a few months back.
The Motown and More Show's Funky Good Time for the three day performances will be saluting Houston's Detria Ward. Ms. Ward died the Fall of 2019.
"Detria Ward spent many years at KTSU Radio serving as a much-loved on-air personality before moving on to assume the responsibilities of Program Director and Operations Manager. She later worked in other capacities at the university including her service as a Coordinator in the College of Continuing Education, and as the Special Projects Coordinator. Detria was committed to her alma mater, Texas Southern University where she studied, worked and influenced the lives of many students."
The Houston Defender reported, "“Detria Ward had a gift for telling stories through the eyes of her characters on stage,” said Eileen J. Morris, Ensemble artistic director. “She was a vibrant and gracious soul who believed in her colleagues bringing their best and was often seen mentoring or directing through a gentle nod."

Mario Mesquita Borges of All Music.com writes "Presenting raging tunes of a brutal blended sound featuring reckless metal marks and punk rock-inspired strains, Evergreen Terrace delivers their own particular melodic vision of the hardcore style. Forming in Jacksonville, FL, in 1999, Evergreen Terrace joined the efforts of a five-piece set, fronted by Andrew Carey (vocals) and completed with Craig Chaney (guitar, vocals), Joshua James (guitar), Jason Southwell (bass), and Christopher Brown (drums).

(From All Music.com's Steve Huey) Hailing from tiny Gibbs, Tennessee (near Knoxville), country heartthrob Kenny Chesney first made his mark in 1994 with his debut album, but it was a few more years before he started scoring major hits and making himself a household name. His straightforward, emotionally honest way with a romantic ballad is his trademark, distancing him from many of the country-pop acts so plentiful in contemporary Nashville. Among his many accomplishments (number one albums and singles, touring awards, association awards), the most impressive are his four consecutive CMA Awards for Entertainer of the Year, the annual pinnacle for country performers everywhere.
