In 1982, when he was only twelve years old, LUIS MIGUEL recorded his first album. This will be the beginning of an exceptional career.

In 1985, when he turned fifteen, LUIS MIGUEL won his first Grammy from the Academy of Arts and Sciences, for the song Me Gustas Tal Como Eres a duet with Sheena Easton. This year it becomes a year full of prizes: it wins the "Silver Torch" in the Viña del Mar Festival of Chile and the second prize in the Festival of the Song of San Remo (Italy) with the theme Noi Ragazzi Di Oggi.

In 1986, LUIS MIGUEL released his fifth LP, Soy Como Quiero Ser, with which he began his collaboration with the producer and composer Juan Carlos Calderón. With this material, he receives five platinum and eight gold discs in the international arena.


In 1988, he recorded his sixth album Un hombre busca una mujer, whose first single: La Incondicional marks a historic record in Latin radio, staying seven months in first place in all the popularity charts. Seven singles that occupy the number # 1 on the Billboard charts "Hot Latin Tracks" for more than a year.

In 1990, with the disc Luis Miguel 20 years, sells, in just one week, more than 600,000 copies. Six singles of the album simultaneously enter the TOP 100 of Mexico. Make a tour of Latin America and the United States with unprecedented success. Win two "Antorchas de Plata" at the Viña del Mar Festival and thereby consolidate as the youngest and most important artist in Latin America.


That same year he received the "European Excellence" award in Spain and his first "World Music Award" in Monaco, being the first Latin artist to receive such recognition as "Best Selling Artist".

In 1991 he co-produced his eighth album Romance (first in a series of boleros), reaching sales of over seven million copies internationally and accumulating more than seventy platinum albums. He is the first Latin artist to receive a gold record in the USA. for an album in Spanish, gold records in Brazil and Taiwan. Romance also wins the "Best International Album" and "Best International Artist of the Year" award at the "Ronda" awards in Venezuela, "Best Artist from a Non-English Speaking Country" at the International Music Awards in Korea and the ACE Trophy in Argentina.

The following year, he is the only Latin American artist invited to participate in the recording of the disc Barcelona Gold on the occasion of the Olympic Games.
