With today's great weather also at Discovery Green a Runway Fashion Show presented by a LAUNCH. Take a seat in the front row, as GUST (The 2,000 custom made pinwheels installed along Discovery Green’s Brown Promenade) becomes a runway for a fashion and design created by Houston artists. Its from 5pm-8pm. In collaboration with LAUNCH, this show features designs by Chloe Dao, Of Myth & Muse, Diverscity, Onyii & Co., Edwige Pierre and more. Commentary by Sydney Dao. Party and artist market to follow on the runway.
     LAUNCH is a pop-up boutique sponsored by Houston First to showcase Houston's diverse and talented creative community in design and fashion.

     Monster Jam also sets up in NRG Park at the stadium. These stadium and arena events blow the roof off traditional motor sports racing, as 1,500 horse power Monster Jam trucks fly 30 feet in the air, flattening anything in their path. (See Weekend Saturdays click here)
     That same Saturday night in the park its rapper ASAP Rocky's tour. He started rapping at the age of 9, when he moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He learned how to rap from his older brother, who also wore the French braids hairdo that he later adopted. (See January Saturdays click here)

 

Last weekend it was determined who would face off in this year's NFL's Superbowl Sunday spectacle. If you've not heard, its New England and Los Angeles. Sorry New Orleans. Both headed to Atlanta, GA for Super Bowl LIII, Sunday, February 3rd, 2019.

This weekend in Houston and surround areas it’s the 36th Annual Houston Auto Show at NRG Center featuring car makers of all types. The show offers an opportunity for everyone interested to test drive more than 800 vehicles under one roof. (See January Fridays click here).

     Our Weekend Sunday entertainment picks include Toni Braxton also at Smart Financial Center and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness Tour at Houston's HOB in GreenStreet.
     Braxton's "Sex & Cigarettes" album released last March has been charting with mixed reviews, check out the video in January Weekends (click here) we also posted an ole school music video of Braxton to help you stir-up some back in the day feelings. Joining Braxton this weekend will be SWV (Sisters with Voices) , formed in 1986 as a gospel group.    
   AccuWeather tells us this will bea great sunny weekend and that might make for a day trip to Galveston Island. It's the annual restaurant week. This will be their eight year.
     Galveston is home of the finest Gulf Coast seafood and some of Texas’s most delectable restaurants, like BLVD. Seafood, Yaga’s Cafe, Sky Bar Steak & Sushi, and Little Daddy’s Gumbo Bar.
