Jake Ward
@Armadillo Palace

Friday 4/19/2019 9:00 PM

Country music man Jake Ward makes his way to Armadillo Place this weekend as he continues his national concert tour. Ward made his debut as a country artist back in 2014 at Larry Joe Taylor's Festival, where he played what would become the first single, HIT THE ROAD. Jake and the band cut the song as a demo and it made its way onto local radio stations in Jake’s hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. The county single eventually reached the top 30 becoming one of the top 100 Texas radio songs of 2014.

Houston Symphony Presents
Music of Led Zeppelin
@Jones Hall for the
Performing Arts

Friday 4/19/2019 7:30 PM

     Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Led Zeppelin, the original heavy metal band, as the Houston Symphony covers a set list of all their best known works! Rock out to all their acclaimed hits you know and love. Amplified by a full rock band, this one night only event is sure to leave you believing that “all that glitters is gold."
     It will be Randy Jackson lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Zebra in-charge of the vocals with symphony conductor, Brewnt Havens leading the orchestra at Jones Hall for the performing Arts. Jackson first foray into recording success began with the self-titled Zebra debut album, released on Atlantic Records in 1983. Critically acclaimed for its lush rock sounds, due in large part to Randy’s searing lead vocals and soaring guitar leads, the album sold 75,000 copies the first week. “Who’s Behind The Door” and “Tell Me What You Want,” written by Randy, received serious notice in the press and almost instantly helped to form legions of Zebra fans. He produced and engineered the group’s latest release, Zebra IV.

Ragtime
@Hobby Center
Sarofim Hall

    Based on E.L. Doctorow’s powerful book about immigrants and the fight for the American soul in the early twentieth century, Ragtime is a deeply moving musical. Featuring a Tony Award®-winning score and book, Ragtime is set at a time when worlds and cultures are colliding on issues of race, class, gender equality, and politics. This ensemble musical takes a look at the past and, in it, we see our present – and the opportunities for our future.
     Ragtime tells the story of three groups in the United States in the early 20th century: African Americans, represented by Coalhouse Walker Jr., a Harlem musician; upper-class suburbanites, represented by Mother, the matriarch of a white upper-class family in New Rochelle, New York; and Eastern European immigrants, represented by Tateh, a Jewish immigrant from Latvia.
