Houston's Weekend Planning Guide
is updated continuously

We made it through most of the Spring now headed to Summer entering our first June weekend.

Summer officially arrives this year, with the solstice on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 9:58 a.m. CDT The longest day of the year.

Everybody be careful in the water on the beach, jellyfish are a stinging. A friend Memorial Day weekend went into the Gulf (Galveston) and got a neck sting, as he described it. "The jellyfish wrapped around my neck, " he said.

Despite what you may have heard, it's a myth that peeing on a jellyfish sting does anything to ease the pain.

This is what you should do says the Mayo Clinic. Use water that's 110 to 113 F (43 to 45 C). It should feel hot, not scalding. Keep the affected skin immersed or in a hot shower until the pain eases, which might be 20 to 45 minutes. Apply 0.5% to 1% hydrocortisone cream or ointment twice a day to the affected skin.

This Saturday its the outdoor movie screening "Turning Red" at Discovery Green. It starts at 7:00 PM bring the date or kids with a blanket.

Disney and Pixar’s “Turning Red” introduces Mei Lee, a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda!” (PG) 2022, 100 minutes

Book 4-nights at Temptation Grand Miches Resort and stay the 5th night for FREE.
