and placed 17 hits on the Top 40 Adult Contemporary charts as well as scoring numerous hits on the contemporary Christian charts. The Nashville native gained a reputation for creating potent songs that examined life’s complexities with an open heart and keen eye. Damien Escobar once a self-proclaimed retired artist is now back to being one of the world’s top violinist. This weekend Escobar is at LiveNations's HOB Houston in GreenStreet Downtown.
A lot of people have taken note, but so have the media - the gatekeepers of information, with major 
feature stories in People Magazine, Huffington post, CNN, The NY Daily News and Chicago Tribune. The star even found his way back on national television, performing on WETV’s “David Tutera’s: Unveiled”. Since then invitations to appear on television haven’t ceased; landing Escobar in the interviewee chair at every major network on both a local and national scale including Fox News, The Hallmark Channel, The Katie Couric Show, Empire Live , NBC, CBS and ABC.
Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. This weekend the expressive metal band with Killswitch Engage & Fever 333 will be performing in the Woodlands 
at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
It was about five years ago Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor interviewed by nme.com opened up about why he thinks certain people hate the band. Taylor said, "that the band seems to inspire hatred in some people because “people thought we were just gonna be in and out.”

Los Angeles trio LANY will embark on a North American tour in support of their forthcoming album gg bb xx. This weekend they're at Smart Financial Center in Sugarland with Keshi and Alana Springsteen.
gg bb xx, the fourth album from LANY came out last month on Interscope Record. Thus far, they have 
shared three offerings from the album – “up to me,” “dna [demo]” and “dancing in the the kitchen” – which Uproxx says “showcases the group’s knack for penning relatable pop tunes, emphasizing the importance of enjoying life’s little moments over a joyous beat.” These new songs follow LANY’s first new music of 2021, “I Quit Drinking,” a duet with country superstar Kelsea Ballerini which debuted with a live performance at this year’s CMT Awards last month.

It is a yearly tradition in Hacienda Calvario where they get together to celebrate. As they share how this celebration has been of great value to their lives, they also explain the meaning of every element presented: why are 
altars made? What objects can decorate them? What food is eaten? Why it is important to have candles, the traditional “calaveritas (verses that rhyme)?
La Catrina (Death) roams around, reminding us that life is beautiful, and we need to take advantage of it. Where do we go after we die? That is the main question each character asks among them.

Paula Poundstone is known for her smart, observational humor and a spontaneous wit that has become the stuff of legend. This weekend Poundstone will be in Galveston at The Grand Opera House.

Julianna Rubio Slager’s 2021 World Premiere Reckless brings an ancient story of tragedy and incredible compassion into the 21st Century. Cliché stereotypes fall apart when we look at someone’s life through their own eyes. The stories 
of those in the sex trade are broken, painful, and often misunderstood. Reckless explores the story of Gomer, the wife of the prophet Hosea. The story of Gomer has been retold in countless lives, frequently ending in tragedy and sorrow. In this story we see the reckless love of God through Hosea, as he runs to the darkest street corners to redeem the one He loves. The ballet is about sex-trafficking, we recommend it for audiences 13 and older due to those themes. There is no nudity or vulgar dancing.

One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also made quite an impression in the television and radio arena. D.L. can currently be heard on the New York airwaves, as host of the morning show on WYKS-FM. In just a few months on air, DL has managed to increase the listenership for the 
station. This Haloween weekend Hughly will be at the Improv Houston.
Most recently, D.L. served as host of his own late night talk show on CNN “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News.” Proving he could, indeed break news, D.L. was able to uncover startling, news-making comments from such guests as former White House press secretaries Scott McClellan and Ari Fleischer, as well as a recent controversy-stirring comment from RNC chair Michael Steele.
Trombonist, composer, and arranger Kendall Moore is joined by tenor saxophonist Zahria Sims, guitarist Greg Petito, bassist Tim Ruiz, and drummer Gavin 
Moolchan in their debut performance. This group will be featuring original compositions and fresh perspectives on arrangements of great modern jazz standards and music from the American Songbook.
