[From All Music.com-Neil Z. Yeung] Los Angeles hard rock outfit Badflower brought grit and swagger inspired by the Sunset Strip when they made their debut in 2013. Armed with dark anthems that often grappled with themes like addiction, pain, and mental illness, they earned their first modern rock radio hit with "Ghost" in 2018. Their debut, OK, I'm Sick, arrived in early 2019 on Big Machine, topping the U.S. Heatseekers chart. Two years later, they returned with their sophomore effort This Is How the World Ends.
Badflower - Ghost
The group initially got together in 2008 under another moniker, later changing bassists and their band name. The re-formed lineup -- vocalist/guitarist Josh Cole Katz, guitarist Joseph Paul Morrow, drummer Anthony Sonetti, and bassist Alex Espiritu -- released the Temper EP in 2015 on Hundred Handed Records. The blistering set included the arena-ready single "Animal" in addition to four other raw tracks that condensed the sounds of contemporaries like Royal Blood and Aeges with the fury of early Silverchair. Hit single "Ghost" -- which dealt with depression and self-harm -- arrived in 2018, rising to number two on the U.S. mainstream rock chart. That track, along with additional singles "x ANA x" and "Heroin," landed on their official debut OK, I'm Sick, which was released in early 2019. The album charted on the Billboard 200 and rose to number ten on the Alternative Albums chart. The following year, Badflower issued the tortured single "30" on Katz's 30th birthday. Another standalone track, the lurching, grunge-inspired "F*ck the World" arrived soon after. Read more @All Mjusic.com (Click Here)

[From All Music.com-Stephen Thomas Erlewine] Sturgill Simpson became the face of 21st century outlaw country, a self-styled maverick who didn't follow the rules of either modern or classic country. High Top Mountain, his 2013 debut, recalled the brawny swagger of Waylon Jennings, but by the time he released its sequel, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, the following year, it was clear that Simpson wasn't limited to either country or Americana. The neo-psychedelic undertones within the title and music of Metamodern Sounds in Country Music only hinted at the stylistic ground the singer/songwriter would cover. A Sailor's Guide to Earth, an arty concept album from 2016, incorporated soul and symphonic pop in a manner so audacious it helped snare him a Grammy for Best Country Album in 2017, a win that solidified his position at the vanguard of Americana and roots rock. Though he'd take some wild detours, such as the fuzz-drenched 2019 album Sound & Fury, he'd wind back to his bluegrass roots, as on 2020's Cuttin' Grass albums and The Ballad of Dood and Juanita, an old-fashioned country record.
Joshua Ray Walker - "Sexy After Dark"
A native of Jackson, Kentucky, raised near Lexington, Simpson has deep Southern roots, but he moved out West once he reached his late teens. In 2004, he formed Sunday Valley, receiving a big break when they played Portland, Oregon's Pickathon Festival in 2011. Simpson went solo in 2012, beginning work on the album that became High Top Mountain, which appeared the following year. After extensive touring, he settled down in the studio to concentrate on his next recording. He experimented with stretching the boundaries of his chosen genre, digging deep into topics like physics and evolution, as evidenced by his pre-release single "Turtles (All the Way Down)." The Dave Cobb-produced album, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, appeared in May 2014 and peaked in the Top Ten on all of the country charts. The set was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Album. Simpson won Best Emerging Artist at that year's Americana Music Awards, and in 2015 was named Artist of the Year by the same foundation

[From All Music.com-Neil Z. Yeung] As they matured from their indie dance-rock roots into torchbearers of new wave- and Americana-inspired anthems, Las Vegas rock quartet the Killers earned global success. With a mix of '80s-styled synth pop and fashionista charm, the band's multi-platinum 2004 debut, Hot Fuss, became one of the decade's biggest releases, spawning four hit singles -- including their most enduring hit, "Mr. Brightside" -- and catapulting the group into the international spotlight. After the abrupt stylistic shift on 2006 sophomore effort Sam's Town -- which de-emphasized the band's new wave revivalism in favor of the heartland rock of Bruce Springsteen and Rattle and Hum-era U2 -- they struck a balance between their two sides on a consistent run of Top Ten releases that peaked with 2017's chart-topping Wonderful Wonderful. In 2020, their sixth album, Imploding the Mirage, garnered critical praise and scored them a U.S. alternative chart-topper with the single "Caution." Less than a year later, they released the pensive tonal shift Pressure Machine.

Shot At The Night
Founding foursome Brandon Flowers (vocals/keyboards), David Keuning (guitar), Mark Stoermer (bass), and Ronnie Vannucci (drums) first came together in late 2001. Flowers had parted ways with his former synth pop group Blush Response after refusing to move to Los Angeles with the rest of his bandmates. Instead, he remained in Las Vegas, where he soon met local guitarist and Oasis fanatic Keuning. Read more @All Music.com (Click Here)
