It was 2009 when Frontman, Ben Jorgensen released a statement announcing the band, Armor for sleep, they formed in 2001 was breaking-up. They were releasing third album "Smile For Them". This weekend at Warehouse Live they come together again.
Frontman Ben Jorgensen said in a press release: “I started Armor for Sleep when I was an anti-social 17 year-old — I had no band members, just a band name and a couple songs I recorded in a studio by myself. I honestly had no grand plan for the band, but when people started reacting to the first demos that were recorded, I was just kind of curious to see where it would go.”
What to Do When You Are Dead, he said, “is the thing we created that never seems to go away. For me personally, revisiting the album is a bookmark to a time in my life that would ultimately shape everything about the person that I am today. We are all extremely humbled that this album has meant so much to so many people over the years, and we’re honored that we’re going to get the chance to come back again and play some shows to celebrate it, and rock out with everyone.” Jorgensen made this statement to Alt Press.com.
Jorgensen is joined in the band by bassist Anthony DiIonno, drummer Nash Breen and guitarist P.J. DeCicco.

Rod Wave makes his way to LiveNation's Bayou Music Center this weekend with his "SoulFly Tour". The 36-city U.S. trek kicks off in Houston, Texas on August 27 before wrapping up in Seattle, Washington on October 23, 2021.
Hip-Hop DX.com reported last week Wave shared with his fans via social media his intentions concerning the tour, "The St. Petersburg, Florida native took to Twitter on Wednesday (August 18) to announce an expanded version of his chart-topping third LP, which is set to arrive on Friday (August 20) via Alama Records. The deluxe version will tack nine new songs onto the original 19-track set, including collaborations with Kodak Black and Lil Durk. However, fans may not hear much from Rod Wave following the album’s release as he hinted at taking a hiatus from music — or possibly something more permanent.
“Dat deluxe I’m dropping Friday Kut 2 Deep,” he wrote. “After dat I’m gone.”
All Music.com describes the drapper in his bio as, "Adept at swinging from gruff to sweet within one line, Rod Wave is a rapper and singer who swiftly advanced from local up-and-comer to Alamo Records signee. The Top Ten Billboard 200 entry Ghetto Gospel capped off the storyteller's slew of vivid full-length releases across 2018 and 2019. Pray 4 Love nearly topped the chart in 2020, and was followed in 2021 by SoulFly, which reached number one on the strength of a few Top 40 singles."
This weekend its Rod Wave at Bayou Music Center in Bayou Place downtown Houston.

Phantoms is Los Angeles based duo, Kyle Kaplan & Vinnie Pergola. Often tough to box in…..their style is best described as blurring the lines of house music & indie-dance ,while retaining a pop sensibility. Incorporating distinctive synth and drum patterns, the duo have become synonymous with their ‘genre’ of alternative electronic. That description is from Insomniac.com. This weekend they will be in the Bayou City at RISE Rooftop, downtown.
Launching in 2016 with debut EP, “Broken Halo”, the duo were quickly signed to Republic/Casablanca, releasing their eponymous debut album the following year. ‘Phantoms’ featured the chart topping “Just A Feeling” (ft Verite), clinching #1 spots on US Dance Radio for 4 straight weeks, iTunes electronic chart and sitting atop the SiriusXM / BPM Top 20 countdown for over 8 weeks, and being named BPM’s ‘Breaker of the Year’.
2019 saw the release of the duo’s 7-track “Disconnect” EP, which included dance chart topping single “Say It” and club focused instrumental “Designs For You”, which saw worldwide DJ support from the likes of Pete Tong, Diplo, Martin Garrix, Don Diablo, Duke Dumont and many more. The same year also saw the duo hit the road with a live sold out North American headline tour that included festival stops at Ultra Miami, Life Is Beautiful, EDC Mexico, EDC Japan, Made In America, Okeechobee, Voodoo Fest and many more.
Applauded by NPR, Billboard, Dancing Astronaut and many others, it’s clear the duo have cemented themselves as one of electronic music’s hottest live acts.

This weekend Forever Miles with Coy and Cosmic Outlaws make their way to White Oak Music Hall, back in June Andrew Martinez was interview for a story in Shout HTX. An online magazine, focusing on topics that are relevant to almost everyone hoping to inspire important conversations within a community and do so in way that puts artists, creatives and local businesses at the center of the conversations.
Hi Andrew, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I think for our band no matter what life has thrown our way we have always been able to push through. Bad or good, we have always had great communication with every member and can get through anything!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Forever Miles is a family story of brotherhood and friendship. A band formed by family members AJ (Guitar/Vocals) and Myself (Andy-Drums/Vocals). We have been writing music since we were kids and through the years as a 2-Piece have added to the family with our good friend Sergio (Bass) and his girlfriend Rochelle (Trumpet/Keys). This family came from different backgrounds and scattered musical influences but on one night after being friends for some time we had to Jam together and boy was it magical . Catchy guitar licks with groovy bass hits filled the room , while Progressive monstrous beats and Bright intense brass transitions shaped the air. Being in the room together is amazing every time. We write as a team and a family and it’s great to work with family making magic. We’re proud to be with each other on stage and in the studio it makes working easy and so much fun its the proudest we’ve ever felt on stage. We all had to work really hard on our craft and it shows not only with our instruments but our work ethic. We all want each other to thrive and feel heard , not one idea goes unsaid it helps us flourish to write and paint our picture as best we can on canvas. Easy? Working together was always fluent but we all had to work out with each other and fix the kinks. The music was worth it though , the songs curated by it was too good to not push for. We try to strive and stay open and experiment with it and help us grow to become better and more intone with each other like musical soulmates lol (if that makes sense). We want the world to see how much you can love music and enjoy the people you hear , play , and write it with. THAT’S what Forever Miles is about.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
They would have to see the city how we do and go for a bike ride. Our trails give off a vibe of a city that can’t be seen without it. Eleanor Tinsley Park is the best on any day. Maybe grab some Henderson an Kanes while we’re in the area. They have some GREAT breakfast/brunch and maybe some Catalina Coffee on the way out too. We’d definitely have to check out Axelrad after to enjoy the day outside and maybe catch one of their movie nights or dj nights. If not there is always an Astros game! I’d love to show them Captain Fox heart’s for a drink or two it’s a personal fave . Phoenicia’s Downtown would be next to show how much Houston loves diversity of foods because who doesn’t love food?! We’d also have to check in on some other places like Darwins Pub for some karaoke and Rudyard’s for some comedy . You can’t go wrong with Montrose , or the Heights. The people here are so diverse and interesting people from all over the world come to Houston and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d love to thank all our fans and family members along the way for giving us the opportunity to play and express ourselves to the fullest of our hearts content. It helps us push harder and continue to enjoy these beautiful moments together. We love you and can’t wait to show you guys what’s next!
