NBA Youngboy in Concert
@Revention Music Center

Youngboy Never Broke Again was one of 2016’s rising rap talents when that trajectory was halted with an arrest for two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Formerly known as NBA YoungBoy, the rapper was born Kentrell DeSeann Gaulden in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1999. His debut mixtape, Life Before Fame, arrived in 2015 and was quickly followed by a trilogy of releases titled Mind of a Menace. Shining a spotlight on his gritty and violent upbringing, YoungBoy displayed a talent for wordy bars, combining the spirits of contemporaries like 21 Savage and Boozie Badazz. In 2016, he released the 38 Baby mixtape, which featured fellow Baton rouge rappers like Badazz and Kevin Gates. Before I Go Reloaded, a collection of previously released tracks, was issued at the end of the year, as the future of his burgeoning career remained uncertain. Despite ongoing incarceration, he released another mixtape from behind bars in 2017, Mind of a Menace 3. More information at 713.230.1600 or www.livenation.com or www.reventionmusiccenter.com

Rufus Du Sol in Concert
@Revention Music Center

Australian alternative dance group from Sydney, Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt make their way to Live Nation's Reventon Center in Bayou Place this weekend. They had to change their name from RÜFÜS to Rüfüs Du Sol when coming to America because RÜFÜS was already taken.

Last fall they recorded a live album and accompanying film in a secluded area of Joshua Tree as the sun went down over rock formations and light poles illuminated the desert night sky around them. "Live From Joshua Tree" will be released last Friday and the accompanying video can be seen on YouTube.

Directed by Alex George, the brother of keyboardist Jon George, the video features the band performing hits such as "Solace," "Underwater," Innerbloom" and more. There is no audience. The band members are on individual platforms and their equipment sits on clear stands.
